I love decorating our home (and we have had 23 of them in our 38 years of marriage). Every one takes on a look of its own...each one has its own personality. Our little beach cottage is, by far, one of my most favorite looks. But no matter what the look has been, all of my homes remained, for the most part, uncluttered. Scott and I have different views on what "uncluttered" looks like, so what has saved our marriage, is my giving him his own room...with a door! He has absolute freedom in his room...he just can't "spill" into the rest of the house. It has worked well for us for many years now.
As the word "uncluttered" popped into my head this morning, I felt that not only do I appreciate that in my home, God is asking me to keep that same thinking in my life. It is so easy in this day and age to get caught up in activity after activity. I believe God is wanting us to be a "Mary" instead of a "Martha" and choose those things which are the most important. Depending on what season of life you are in, will help determine the most important things for you.
It's also important to keep our minds free from clutter...those thoughts of frustration towards others or a specific situation. It is such a waste of time and hardly ever accomplishes anything. I Corinthians 14:33a reminds us, "For God is not a God of confusion but of peace."
So, as you're finishing your cup of coffee today, let's work on keeping our lives uncluttered.
Loved chatting with you.
Kathy
God has been working with me on this very thing for a few years and I am excited to say that I love the simplicity of my life. I'm glad you are where you are happiest! Keep up the good work!
